Well not only does the guy look good...and not only is he talented but he plays the Santoor for crying out loud. And he makes it look so fantastic. And it sounds great too. Not like some boring pandit yeh and pandit woh...his music seems hip, new, fresh, and every other nice thing you want to say. Which is great because everything changes right. But whats a treasure should not be lost. Classical music is one such treasure. I'm not of the mindset that making it funky and new age is corrupting the 'art'...far from it (in my mind). Its keeping the art alive. How many young people who arent inspired by some old aged pandit will look at a guy like Rahul Sharma who seems dashing and young, ready to rule the world, and who plays this 'old musical instrument' in such a chic manner. Its keeping the instrument alive and therefore its keeping the music alive. No one will disagree that the Santoor sounds like only a Santoor and therefore whatever is added around it should not matter...because the sound of the Santoor is alive. We need more Rahul Sharmas in India.
I was a little surpirsed by lyrics in this song but its very interesting because then it becomes the common mans. I cant play the santoor and mix and fuse sounds and create music like that but I can always sing right. Lets see heard only one song of his yet. Plus its less boring too.
I do belive Rahul Sharma is the next big thing....
