Rahul Sharma is HOT...

Well not only does the guy look good...and not only is he talented but he plays the Santoor for crying out loud. And he makes it look so fantastic. And it sounds great too. Not like some boring pandit yeh and pandit woh...his music seems hip, new, fresh, and every other nice thing you want to say. Which is great because everything changes right. But whats a treasure should not be lost. Classical music is one such treasure. I'm not of the mindset that making it funky and new age is corrupting the 'art'...far from it (in my mind). Its keeping the art alive. How many young people who arent inspired by some old aged pandit will look at a guy like Rahul Sharma who seems dashing and young, ready to rule the world, and who plays this 'old musical instrument' in such a chic manner. Its keeping the instrument alive and therefore its keeping the music alive. No one will disagree that the Santoor sounds like only a Santoor and therefore whatever is added around it should not matter...because the sound of the Santoor is alive. We need more Rahul Sharmas in India.

I was a little surpirsed by lyrics in this song but its very interesting because then it becomes the common mans. I cant play the santoor and mix and fuse sounds and create music like that but I can always sing right. Lets see heard only one song of his yet. Plus its less boring too.

I do belive Rahul Sharma is the next big thing....

It's not fair...TOI shouldn't be allowed to play around with the paper like that...

Well the Times Of India does it again. They once again have changed the format of the paper. What I wish they would change is go back to their original size. Use to love it when the fonts was nice and big. Made reading more fun. Didnt have to hold the paper 5 inches from my face. Anyway the reason I am cribbing is because I was cribbing before when they added the Times International suppliment and what happened was the paper became huge because not only is there one main paper, there are like half a dozen suppliments (Mumbai Mirror and its suppliment included not that I ever read it, only want to add the 1/2 a dozen thats why - only love the Mumbai Mirror for its puzzles/quizzes page). But I was getting use to that format. Would carry the Times International with me on my way to work and read some part of the 'newspaper' at least. Now if I want to carry anything with me, I'm pulling out pages of the main paper - which sucks. So what I'm again stuck with is reading headlines only. Man I should start waking up earlier. And no I DO NOT CONSIDER BOMBAY TIMES a NEWSPAPER.

Children of a great god...

Was talking to a friend the other day who wanted to know what the opposite of 'children of a lesser god' would be...I said it should be 'children of a greater god'. After a little while he was like 'ya, your a child of a greater god'. Well I shouldn't lie, so I will agree. It does seem like I am a child of a greater god. Had everything easy in life. Have everything anyone would want. A great family, a good education, a fun job, cool friends, lotsss of opportunities (which I dont capitalize on), a fantastic house (at least I think so), and enough money (not mine - in the family) to live well off. Lot of people dont even have 1/10th of what I do. Sometimes I feel guilty about it, but I let it pass. It's a crime I know, or rather a sin, if you believe in such stuff....I only sit there and think well at least I know I'm better off what about people who have everything, even more than me and still are not satisfied, they are the real scum right? Of course I'm only trying to fool myself and it doesn't work because I know what it is that I'm trying to achieve. And its not that I appreciate everything I have all the time. I sit and complain and bitch and do everything that there is no need to. But if your hollow you just are...
I believe that if I did pray I would pray for the 'children of a lesser god'...but I never believed praying was enough. It never gets you anything. And I sit and feel more guilty because I know I have to do something...but still here I sit.......

Happy Birthday Nisha ...:D you just keep getting older :P ....

Like I promised Nisha...you are now in my blog too hehe...ya I'm going to dedicate a whole post so how nasty and silly you are...hehe ...it's not your birthday anymore right...but anyway birthday or not...honestly is honestly right :P
[For all those of you who are wondering - :D is a big smiled smiley and :p is a tongue sticking out smiley.]

Well the tradition of dedicating nicknames to people (mostly always on their birthday only) started over 2 years ago. My bolt gang started this funda. You dedicate your msn nick to the members whose birthday it is. And it would be considered a better if you said something about this person or to this person through your nick....ahhh the good old days. No one does it anymore :(

Well anyway back to Nisha...aka...our driver in Manila...aka the 'fool'...aka the funniest craziest woman with a million guys (supposedly) nuts about her...aka...the only person who can blackmail me or make me shut up instantly...aka the person who gets away being stupid by saying that its cause I banged the car door on her head.
Theek hai...we are bonded for life by the incident...you can go on and on about how your brain is damaged because of me...and I can remember the ACCIDENT whenever I want to feel guilty of anything.
Anyway I'm sure you're going to read this...since your so self-centric...haha...well all I have to say is I tried really hard to think of good things to say about you...but I cant seem to think of anything okay okay I know it has become an old standard dialogue but like I said...the truth is the truth...okay enough of my keedahgiri...I definitely and totally want to thank you (and key - who will get her own nick dedication and therefore blog entry when it's her birthday) for the wonderful time we have always had when we have been in Manila. This last trip was the best. I must say it was so much fun....never pulled anyones leg as much as I did yours...and the best part was that you are always a good sport. Now we have no inclination of going to Manila since you got married and left...I mean everyone knows you need a DRIVER in Manila hehe...

Have a great day, a great year and a great life....

Who would have believed it was possible...

I have been abroad a few times and have seen malls before the first brick of Crossroads - the first mall in Mumbai - was even laid. Never did I think would I see in this decade multiple malls that looked like malls of foreign countries. And I'm not the type of person who would go all the way to Malad to see InOrbit mall. But I did see the truth last month. Went to Andheri to catch a movie. Got tickets finally in Cinemax - in the Infinity mall. I was totally blown away. The place is so big and looks like an international mall - except for the crowd though. But still the place was huge, well lit, had big brands, a multiplex and food mall....fantastic. Of course I dont know who shops at places like these. I am assuming their food courts and expensive movie tickets cover up some major costs. Well the thing is more and more of these malls are just sprouting up all over Mumbai. Pretty crazy eh...

Strikes are a valid form of protest - but if they cause hassles for so many ppl - they should be re-considerened...

Well thank god the BEST strike is off. I understand that these people should get paid proper wages, but what about the inconvinience caused to common people. I had to pay Rs.50 everyday instead of my regular bus fair for Rs.10. The thing is that I can afford to pay 40 rupees more for a couple of days; a lot of people cannot. Sure enough private buses came into service the next day, but they aren't good enough substitutes.
As always, Mumbaikars showed their 'sab chalta hai' attitude. We shall take everything in our stride...and life went on nearly as normal as it always does.
I am of the belief that this attitude is a bad attitude. It's the reason Mumbai is not growing. It's the reason why nothing is changing - become better. It's the reason we have incompetent dumb asses as our leaders. It's the reason why we arent world class. Hopefully this will change soon....
We should stop hoping and start acting...so much for me practicing what I preach...

The coffee drinkers of Mumbai...

The coffee drinkers of Mumbai aren't coffee drinkers at all really...
Whether you check out a Bariasta, Cafe Coffee Day (better known as CCD) or a Mocha (though its not a real coffee shop - thatÂ’s how it originally started if I remember correctly), they are always crowded.
If you wonder why, its not because people here love their coffee...it is because these places are 'hang out joints'...You will rarely see someone walk into a Barista or CCD, and order something as a take out. Theyaren'tnÂ’t there because they want coffee...they are there because these cafes provide them a place where they can sit around/meet up with friends and hang out. Of course all of this is never free - everything has a price right. And what a price it is. A coffee that costs over Rs.30 is nothing but exploitation. And most of the time you end up buying something more than just a normal coffee. But at the end of the day its all about the cost v/s the benefits. Lots of people today have disposable incomes. They'd rather spend it at a cool cafe, drinking coffee looking cool, rather than sitting at a sea face etc eating sing channa. I wonder how Starbucks will do in India. Lets see when they finally set up shop here. One thing is for sure - they have a ready market. Only the demand is not for coffee but for hang out joints

Everything is toooo bloody expensive these days...

It's true...I speak nothing but the truth (stop laughing...it's true...I speak nothing but the truth...at most times...as much as I can...look life is tough, you gotta do what you gotta do...well EVERYTHING IS toooo bloodyyyy expensive...there thats the truth).
Went for a dinner - 12 people - paid 4000+ ...what the hell....a bloody dinner costed so much...where do people get the money to do stuff like this all the time? Restaurants are always full, shops are always full, people are travelling like crazy, everyone has a car...where is the money coming from? Anyway, I'm getting into a bad habit of going out too much too, end up drinking coffee uselessly, add caffine and sugar to my body...both of which are so bad...and end up filling my wallet with more cash sooner and sooner...either will stop going out so often or stop ordering stuff when I am out. And its so tough earning money man...work so hard and get some peanuts...thank god my parents are well off...or at least enough that I dont need to worry about money...and thank god they brought me up right so that I dont have 10,000 demands...Well all I can do is dream of making big bucks some day....unfortunately I'm not the kind who thinks of marrying a filthy rich guy...not that I could marry a filthy rich guy even if I wanted....but whatever...I want to earn my own big bucks...and when I have them, I wont be wasting them on dinners and clothes...dont know what I would do with all the money...maybe travel around the world...maybe fund a small school in some village...maybe some other social service...maybe get the best gadgets in the world....but *sob* where is the money...show me the moneyyyyy

Google Analytics rocks...

Yup it does...absolutely does...of course down side is that google gets all this data for free too...and the day they stop following their 'dont be evil' motto...we are all screwed...but still fantastic UI...wonder how much more has been added or substracted from urchin....never saw it so have no idea...also wonder what is going on now, with the other analytics tools...the good thing was that google could give limited accounts...i wonder what will truely happen when it gives more and more analytics accounts out to people....someone should definitely read their TOS/TC...so see how they can screw us later on....which they will...power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely...

It takes work...

Everything....everythingggg takes work...
Lots of people today dont seem to accept this or want to except this. Sure even I want everything easy. Who doesnt? My parents and grand parents would have wanted everything easy too but they knew at the same time that they would have to work hard to achieve something, work hard to get somewhere and they were ready for it and did it. Today somehow it seems like people (younger generations) want everything easy. Maybe its because they are brought up like that. Their parents worked real hard, made some good money, pampered their kids, and now the kids dont want to work hard cause they never really had to, and even just the idea of doing so is painful enough to not do anything at all.
Well the reality is that life sucks. You got to work hard cause there is no other way out. Everything takes an effort. Nothing just ever drops into your lap. If you dont have to work for money then you have to work at relationships or you have to work toward your health or looking good ...everything takes work...
What shouldnt be forgotten is that all thing you have to or need to work at should have a priority. Lets stop being lazy, lets stop being stupid, lets get things done, lets work and then sleep well at the end of the day....

They hang out because they can...

In regard to teenagers and even kids of today...I hardly remember going out with my friends...not even much in college and I was sitting there trying to figure out why it is that so many kids today go out so much. And the simple answer is because they can. All these kids have enough money. Some or the other kid in the group has a car and driver at disposal...parents too now days are so much more lenient. Was talking to some friends about kids today. Its crazy how we feel like the world has changed a ton, in just a few years. Its been 7 years since I left school and when I look back at my school life and at my cousins in school...there is a day and night difference.
